LocationThe Great Barrier Reef is located in far north queensland. The reef is 2575 km starting at Bundaberg and stretches all the way up to Thursday Island.
THINGS TO DO: There are many things to do while visiting the Great Barrier Reef these are the top 4: Snorkeling on the reef is one of the best things to do because the water is warm and full of gorgeous creatures and colourful coral that you get to see close up and personal. Scuba diving is an amazing way to get close up and personal with the deeper animals of the Reef it is a much better experience but may hurt your ears / head due to pressure build up but when you rise back to sea level the pain should go away. A Scenic Helicopter flight it a great way to view the reef from above by flying over the reef you get to see the different colours and patterns of the sea bed without gettig wet. Another great way of viewing the reef is by going in the quicksilver sub which is like a submarine that takes you on a tour of the deep sea. This is a great way of exploring the reefs Flora and Fauna without getting wet. |
ClimateIn far North Queensland the weather is quite good through out the year but some months are a alot better than others to explore the reef. By looking at the graph and table above you will see which months have the most rainfall which means that the reef may have quite a lot of unsettling movements. I would recomend going anywhere between July and November because there is less rainfall during this time of year.
