Legend of the Three Sisters
The Aboriginal legend is that these three rocks used to be three sisters whose names were "Meehni", "Wimlah" and "Gunnedoo" who lived in the Jamison Valley as memebers of the Katoomba tribe. These three sisters had fallen in love with three brothers from the Neapean tribe but tribal laws stoped them from marrying. The three brothers didnt want to accept this law so they decided to capture the sisters causing a tribal battle. The lives of the sisters were seriously in danger so a witch doctor took it above himself to turn the three sisters into stone to protect them from any harm. But unfortunately the witch doctor died before he turned them back into humans.
The three sisters are located on the boarder of the Blue Mountains National Park and a 1 hour 45 minute drive North West of Sydney.
