There are many different species in the Daintree Rainforest they persist of Stick insects, spiders, Birds, Lizards, Crocodiles, Cassowarries Frogs, bats, butterflies, caterpilars, moths and many others. Below are the top 3 endangered species of the Daintree Rainforest:
Spotted Tail quoll- This cat sized creature can be found in the upland and downland part of the rainforest and are often spotted along the coast of the daintree.
The Daintree Rainforest is full of lots of unique plant life all beaming with colour. The Vegetation of the Daintree is very diverse because it has 13 different rainforest types that have been identified. One example of flora found in the daintree is the Idiot Fruit this fruit got its name because there were four cows on a farm located in the daintree rainforest these cows died after eating these fruits, Another unique plant is the Burrawang palm which is filled with highly toxic seeds. Wild Ginger is another plant found which is a member of the ginger family this ginger grows 6 meters high and is used in place of drinking water for thirsty hikers.
The daintree rainforest has a tropical climate meaning that it is quite warm all year round the lowest temperature reached in winter is aproximately 17.1 degrees celsius and in the summer 32.4 degrees. The best time to visit would be anywhere between October and April if you dont mind a bit of rain but if you would prefer less rain it woud be better to go in October, November, March or April.
Dangers Dangers that you may face while visiting the rainforest. While visiting the Daintree you may run into one of the many venomous or dangerous creatures found in the rainforest if you run into a snake for example the red bellied black snake, costal taipan, eastern small eyed snake, northern death adder and many others ,there are also many territoral spiders in the daintree for example the wolf spider and goldern orb spider,also if you run into cassowarry or another horrid animal do not freak out and start screaming just avoid it and go somewhere else if it is a snake though dont do anything if it is close to you dont move just stand still till it goes away but if it is a few meters away just slowly walk by without freaking out. Another thing to avoid is the fruit growing on trees if you dont know what it is dont eat it for example the idiot fruit and the Burrawang Palm. Also be careful not to wander off the track the daintree is a very large rainforest so you do not want to get lost!
Location The Daintree rainforest is located on the tropic of capricorn situated Between Cooktown in the north and Port Douglas in the south.
